Carmel Mission

The chapel was amazing.

Every church should have a bell tower and this one is probably still in use for the large school on the grounds which has classes up to the 8th grade.
I've never seen a cactus plant that grew from wood.

Burial sites on the side of the chapel with large abalone shells and stones were where the Indians were buried who became neophytes (members of the church). The Indians helped built the first wooden structures. The wooden crosses don't look like they will last not like the gigantic shells and river stones.

The altar is very similar to the one in Holy Rosary Church. Beautiful place.

What a beautiful chapel. How wonderful to be able to go to a school with grounds like this.
