Vacation at Sedona, AZ

For some unknown reason my computer was not connecting to the internet so that I could let my friends in blogland know that I went on a road trip and have been gone for five days.  I have lots of glorious photos (I think) to share. Learned some new techniques and how to use the motel's internet on my phone.

It feels good to be home and I did have some fantastic experiences. I did see the North Rim of the Grand Canyon and was a bit put out that I could not go back to Utah through Page, Arizona because there has been a road avalanche which has put the major highway from Utah to Arizona through a 45 minute detour to Tuba City in the Navajo Reservation.

US Highway 89 just south of Page, AZ.

In the early morning hours of Feb. 20, a landslide ripped through a section of US 89 along a mountain slope about 25 miles south of Page, buckling more than 150 feet of the roadway and tearing the pavement up in six-foot-high sections. There is no timetable as to when the highway will be fixed and reopened.

I am a little peeved that our news people said nothing about our neighboring state and that it happened back in February of this year. Even people that I talked to in Sedona did not know about this highway closure.

Looking forward to reading all about your adventures in Sedona. That must have been an awful experience for the motorist on that stretch of Highway 89.
Hope you had a wonderful and relaxing time, welcome back.

Oh my goodness! That's just horrible. I hope no one was on the stretch and hurt or killed when it happened. I agree that this was newsworthy! (And when you think of the stuff they WILL report, grrrr.)
