Friday's Shootout - Books

There it is - a book shelf in my bedroom filled with my favorite books.  I always have a book or two at the head of my bed because I love to read at night. Kate Morton an Australia has my attention right now - sometimes I try to memorize phrases from her books which are mesmerizing.   I have become just like my mom, I read all the time.

Your bedroom is lovely and so comfy looking. I love the overstuffed chair by the bed. Back in the dark ages when I was young, we had a bookcase bed, remember them? The headboard was a bookcase!! You could also put tissues there and your glasses. Yes, you could sleep with all of this. Then they went out of fashion, I do not know why, and I wish I still had mine! I had a single bed one before I was married, then a double later.

I have a bookshelf in my bedroom too, and would re-read my favorite books several times.

I have books everywhere, but mine are not as orderly as yours. I write almost as much as I read. My post is more about writing books than reading.

Nothing wrong with reading. I guess that your mum would be very proud of you.
I sometimes talk like my dad did - now that is something to worry about.....

Ha, I would have to make my bed for that photo! We have way too many books in my house. I have to tie hubs down when he mentions book sales!

I just noticed you are a technical writer and do genealogy- I did my family history via ancestry.com, but often wish I could go further into the Scotland side...

Hi Ruth...

Got caught up on your posts at last.

Your grandchildren are so adorable! I love that little independent one with the black and silver shoes. My kind of girl!

All your decorations are so delightful, too.

And the hummingbird photo? Fabulous. I LOVE hummingbirds. Those were so gorgeous.

Isn't it fun to just go around with a camera and snap, snap, snap for our blogs? ha! I've even snapped baked goods in the supermarket display case. ha hahaha

Take care, Ruth, and have a nice weekend. Susan

We are on the prowl for a bookshelf to go in our bedroom. It's hard to find bookshelves that are just right.

I love to read and I love to have books all around me. I used to have a quote (Mark Twain, I think) on the wall in my classroom that said, "The man who will not read good books has no advantage over the man who can not read good books."

Enough said.

(And as I was visiting here, I saw the cutest post below about your granddaughter with two different shoes. That's adorable. I didn't know if you would see a comment there so I'm saying it here.

Books say comfort to me so what better in the bedroom than a bookcase?! I'd love to have a bedroom big enough for that!

I have read a couple of Kate Morton's books. It's a pleasure to sit down and immerse oneself in a good story.
