Yellowed with Time
Linking to: Monday Mellow Yellows, there are dozens of yellows out there, check them out.
The original cemetery was on this plot where many pioneers were buried but because the railroad cut through the cemetery and road was widened, many bodies were moved a new cemetery.
One of the older yellowed stones in the new cemetery - Eleazer Evans born Feb 1, 1861, died March 21, 1881.
Granddaughter 3 put on her own hat since granddaughter 2 got all dressed up to go outside. She is determined not to be left out of anything.
All dressed for winter with her cinderella hat.

First round about in town, one block south of the rodeo grounds.

Historic Main Street

Shadow Shot Sunday
Rusty old fence over a snow covered creek.
One of the buildings on Historic Main Street became a steakhouse in 1971 called Porter's Place. Named after Porter Rockwell. (There are 19 buildings on Main Street on the National Register for Historic Buildings.)
Our little town has a definite Western flair along with a very popular yearly rodeo with reserved seats available on bleachers. Those little brown hitching posts are a new addition to Main Street.
They serve really good steaks and have the smallest salad bar you have ever seen but let me tell you, folks around here don't come for salad. They want steak and all the trimmings. Taint a fancy place, just a bit rustic inside. Buffalo steaks are even on the menu and I tried some once and was surprised at how tasty it was.
Porter Rockwell operated the Hot Springs Brewery Hotel near the point of the mountain while living in Lehi. He was a bodyguard to Joseph Smith who prophesied that as long as he did not cut his hair, nothing could harm Port. He lead a very colorful life and yet remained a faithful member of the Mormon church.
If you are curious as what he looked like and a little more about him, click on this link for a biography.
Porter's Place which was the only steak house in town now has some competition because about five years ago, a new steak house moved onto the east end of Main Street but they don't serve Buffalo.
I always said when we first moved here, that there were more horses here than people but sad to say, that is not true anymore.

Sarsaparilla anyone?

Mellow Yellow Line
Connecting to Monday Mellow Yellows
I call this my faded yellow line road with lovely mountains in the background.
They tore down a pioneer home and now look - a particle board replacement. What happened to real wood?
A wire wrapped pendant in Howlite. I have more in my shop on Etsy.com at DiansEarrings.

Reflections - Wasatch Back
Deer Creek Reservoir partially frozen.
Driving through Provo Canyon, there are two tunnels that pass through the mountain. Just beyond that is the turn off for Sundance, Robert Redford's home and ski resort.
This is my town on Thursday morning - foggy and starting to snow.

During Christmas I was at my daughter's near Roosevelt, Utah.
Backyard with neighboring cows (looking east toward Roosevelt).
Birthday party for little N. She calls her sister her baby. After all everyone called her baby for some time before they started calling her by name. Blind reflections in the window door.
On my way home going through Heber City and Provo Canyon, I took some photos of Deer Creek Reservoir and the backside of the Wasatch Mountains (part of the Rocky Mountains). The weathermen are now saying things like the Wasatch back when they talk about snow conditions in Park City and Heber, Utah.
This ranch is close to Heber, Utah.

Sunny but Cold
Linking to Sweet Shot Tuesday
and Ruby Tuesday Too
Little N. riding her new tricycle only it wouldn't go because of the ice and those little legs need to be stronger. Eastern Utah is always 10 to 15 degrees colder than the Salt Lake City area.

Monday Mellow Yellows Chihuly
Connecting to Monday Mellow Yellows.
The atmosphere was rather dark so that each piece was highlighted by light to give a distinct impression with shadows.
Two stingrays are atop this fabulous vase.
