As I looked at the prairie dogs, I wondered how they kept them inside this fence. They dig holes and normally they would dig themselves right out of the enclosure. After looking at those cement holes, I began to wonder if a network of cement holes and base of cement is what might keep them from escaping. What do you think?
Thanksgiving Point has a small animal farm and at the beginning they had a rabbit hutch but they not only had an explosion of rabbits but could not keep the rabbits in their area. They dug too many escape routes. Now they keep some in cages.

Hello Ruth, nice to meet you :)
We do't have prairie dogs, so everthing is new for me.
Have a happy week.
I hardly ever see pictures of you! You are a beautiful and cheerful sight for a Monday! I love the yellow top! And you are more clever then me, I never would have thought of cement all around, that is likely the answer.
I don't think I've ever seen a prairie dog. Nice cheerful post! Yellow is a big colour round here at the moment, because the Tour de France kicks off (ok, wrong verb) shortly.
the prairie dog huts are interesting! i bet you're right about concrete having to go down into the ground to keep them contained. thanks for linking, mellow yellow ruth!
aren't the prairie dogs cute?! when my husband was in the marine corps we were stationed in 29 palms (desert) and had tons that lived in our yard, they were so fun to watch! nice photo of yourself!
Wow, very interesting, I don't think I've seen their huts before. I like to watch them at the Minnesota Zoo, and to see them in South Dakota when we visit there.
A virtual prairie dog town!!!
Love the lemony yellow top.
No prairie dogs around here, but would love to visit this place. I think you are right on how they are kept inside.
Very interesting about the prairie dogs.
I have absolutely no idea, Ruth. I've never seen anything like that before. What an interesting post - and a nice mellow yellow too!
we were told by the ranger at Zion, Glacier or another National Park that they do have the "plague" ... not cool. so scary.
they are cute though. ( :
Good to see you 'Mellow Yellow'. Interesting post.
Interesting place you been in. Perhaps they have electrician wire around at the bottom ...
Nice to see you looking quite lovely in that yellow outfit.
Very interesting about the Prairie Dogs. The sign says something about an Ostrich Ranch but there were no Ostrich's in the photo, just fat Prairie Dogs.
