After reaching Kansas, I saw a pitiful short broken windmill; a few miles later a lonely oil pump and the dead tree forest which looked a bit like this:
These trees have something on them but the ones we saw looked dead with black bark. They could have been black willow or black walnut or some other black tree - who knows. They don't grow where I live.
Many had fallen down and for sure, they were dead.
Much of Kansas looked liked this grass.
Then of course, these trees are from Kansas City which is partly in Kansas and partly in Missouri.
I didn't see the Wizard of Oz but there were signs pointing to the north if you had time to spend in Kansas going from one Dairy Queen to another.
We did not see many people or homes; just a prairie.
