The Bucket

After the Parade on Saturday, we all went swimming at the local swim pool - the one where I attend water aerobics three times a week. The other section of the pool has a gigantic bucket.

The giant bucket fills with water and then it tips over.

There is a lazy propelled river just south of the pool for bigger kids , a kiddy slide area for toddler and a water slide for adults and teens.  In the summer they open the south end of the pool area where there is an additional play area for the toddlers.

I can tell you, it is spectacular to see and a grand play area in comparison with all the swim pools I ever swam in as a kid including a large reservoir filled with rocks, mud and water in Idaho.

The Hubbards

I remember when in 1930 Doc was employed at the Seattle railroad and he had gotten sick from the forest fires by the train running through them with the air filled with fire, smoke and ashes. The doctor said that I needed to get him away because he was asthmatic or he would die.

Our two older daughters stayed in Seattle so they could finish high school. On our journey, we were among the first to stop in Fruitland, and the landowner was so very kind to us.  He let us live in a large building where there were dozens of apple boxes.  We used them to make partitions and had three bedrooms, a living room and a kitchen with a stove in it.  We turned the apple boxes one way to make cupboards in the big room, the other way to make cupboards for our bedrooms, and were so comfortable it was like we were back on the ranch.

We scrubbed and cleaned the rooms and made beds on the floor and were comfortable.  We all worked in the peas.  Doc took the boys with him and taught them which peas were ready for picking, and I took the girls with me.  We were soon picking enough to make it worthwhile. There were two lawyers and one doctor that became very good friends to us and they were very helpful in so many ways.  

 The potatoes were coming, and I used to take a fork and dig around the plants and get a potato once in a while.  So we had peas and potatoes.  We had plenty of meat and a well balanced diet, and Doc got better than he had been for a long time.  It was worth living the way we lived to see him breathe and live as we needed him to do.

Sunlit Sunday March 10

My niece who was named after my great Aunt Victoria, taking a Sunday nap. Aunt Vic was not blessed with beauty but my niece is blessed not only with beauty but a fantastic singing voice.

Shoot Out in England - Friday's White on White

I picked two of my very favorite photos which I shot while traveling in England. The first is of the Pandy Inn in Dorstone, Herefordshire showing the sign and a white building on a cloudy day plus a little lichen in the corner. 

My second choice was the house in Thorton le Dale in Yorkshire, from what I've read, is the most photographed house in England.
It was a sunny day so I didn't need to warm the photo. I did not get the small stream that meanders in front of it but I think the white trimmed window pains and white clouds stand out.

One Giant Bear

This gigantic bear was lumbering down the freeway - going slower than most of the other traffic on our first 50 degree F weather day of the year. I was heading home and couldn't resist seeing if I could take a photo. Those are extra large paws on the right side.

Sunlit Sunday - Mexico

It was a glorious sunny day in Mexico when I took this shot - not to warm and definitely not cold weather like Utah.  I have not blogged for a few days because my family has moved in with me until they can find a rental. My California trips are over. We are a bit crowded with four kids, two hamsters and one cat.

I remember the time when my daughter was little and we used to have hamster babies all the time but we did not raise them, we traded them to a pet store for tropical fish.
