Degarrotype photo, circa 1860
One of my pioneers had this taken and brought
it across the plains. I found it in the garage
hiding in an old
trunk full of photos. I think it may be my
third great grandfather William W. Meguire
from Pennsylvania who settled in
Plain City, Utah.
Linking to Friday's My Town Shoot Out
Vintage for sure.

Another family treasure, lucky you.
ReplyDeleteYou are so lucky to have these photos Ruth. I would love to know what my great grandparents (and great great etc) looked like. Do I take after anyone in particular is one question that I ask myself?
ReplyDeleteGreat old picture. I finally got a new computer so I can visit again. Have a wonderful weekend- xo Diana
ReplyDeleteRuth, that is wonderful! I know I had once seen a huge oval photograph of my GGG grandfather who fought in the Civil War, but no idea as to where it ended up.
ReplyDeleteA treasure, for sure. That's something truly vintage to keep for future generations to share.
ReplyDeleteTHAT is SO special!
ReplyDeleteOh to have a trunk found in the garage. with such a treasure. Maybe we have to get close to 'vintage' age to really appreciate a photo from the Civil War Era. needs to be put behind glass and preserved along with the name you think it represents. a real family treasure - worth more than all our diamond rings.
