Sunlit Sunday Plum Tree Shadows

And blessed are all they who do hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled 'with the Holy Ghost'

Table Cloth

It only took me three weeks to clean my table off but I use my table to eat on but also on the other side, I use it to create my jewelry.  This was one of the souvenirs from my trip to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. I told one of my blog friends that I would take a photo of it on my table so here it is.

This shows the swans and birds and Polish Pottery salt & pepper shakers. I have a small collection but I love the pottery.

9 Childhood Memories

Freddie and Me

1. Running away from home at age 5 with our hunting dog "Sad Eyes".
The large dog in front was Sad Eyes.

2. Singing to a record and told not to sing by Estelle our babysitter because I sang off key.

3. Hiding in the old granary at grandma's house because I didn't want to do dishes.

4. Walking to school with my first friend Geraldine whom I never saw again after the 2nd grade because we moved to an apartment.

5. A nurse putting ether over my face with a wash rag when they took out my appendix. I remember falling and falling.

6. Dancing around the living room when I saw the first dancer's on grandma's new TV in 1950.

7. Listening to "The Creaking Door" on the radio while ironing pillow cases.

8. Using a french fry cutter in my mom's drivein.

9. My brother and I seeing a horse who could count by tapping his hoof on the ground.

Sunlit Sunday Week 3

I've never made a fortune, and it's probably too late now.
But I don't worry about that much, I'm happy anyhow

And as I go along life's way,

I'm reaping better than I sowed.

I'm drinking from my saucer,

'Cause my cup has overflowed.

Haven't got a lot of riches,

and sometimes the going's tough

But I've got loved ones all around me,

and that makes me rich enough.

I thank G
OD for his Blessings,
and the
Mercies HE 's bestowed.
I'm drinking from my saucer,

'Cause my cup has overflowed.

I remember times when things went wrong,

My faith wore somewhat thin.

But all at once the dark clouds broke,

and the sun peeped through again.

So L
ORD , help me not to gripe,
about the tough rows I have hoed.

I'm drinking from my saucer,

'Cause my cup has overflowed.

I don't know who wrote this poem but it goes with Sunlit Sunday and I felt it was perfect to share.  I am joining in My Little Home and Garden's Sunlit Sunday and Simple Things Sunday.

As you can see, I borrowed this one from someone else who had posted it on facebook.  It has my sentiments exactly because my kitty does the same thing.

Mystery Woman

This painting was on the ship - I was drawn to it.

Vitalio and I met in the lobby
where this painting hung. He asked
me to be his Facebook friend and
drew a map of where his home
was in France. He also said to be
sure to look him up if I come to
France and he would drive me
to Poland.

The night before we planned to meet
again and dance. Our Salt Lake City
ballroom dancing group alway danced
on the lobby dance floor because they
had live music there every evening.

He didn't show but Mick kept me
dancing every so often and I
even danced with Shirl who
was scheduled to be my first
roommate. He taught me my first
salsa. (The room organizer
thought that Shirley was a girl.)

Finally Vitalio showed up and
told me that he'd gone to the
other dance club where we had
first met. I tried to sit at the bar
with him but it was a dressy
night and I kept slipping off
the bar stool so he helped
 me balance on the
bar stool with his leg.

I can tell you right now
that the whole group from Utah
was just buzzing when Vitalio
and I began dancing and
spending the whole
evening together.

Not only was my hair askew but
my necklace was upside down
from all the dancing.

The next day we were going to
meet at another dance club
area (there were 5 or 6 on
the ship) for dance lessons
only the dance instructor
go that dreadful motion sickness
 so the lessons were cancelled.
I left a message for
Vitalio but we didn't
connect.

Our group met up next to the
main pool in the middle of
the ship where there was a
dance floor just in front of the
stage. We played a few rounds
of Scum (anyone ever heard
of this strange card game?)

A woman came up to me
and said "hello Ruth". I
looked at her and said, "I've
never met you, how do you
know my name?" What is
your name? She told me her
name was Diane but she would not
 talk about
how she knew my name.

Well, younger and thinner
little hussies in our group
were talking about me and
the drop dead gorgeous man
that I found!

At one point Sandy started calling
Dennis, Brian and since Hank
switched over to being with
Sandy most of the time, I seemed
to have forgotten his name and
started calling him Frank.
Maybe we were just getting rummy,
after all we were up until
1 or 2 am every night (who
would do crazy hours
like that at my age!)

I never did find Vitalio on the last
night onboard. He was a very
interesting man who lives in sunny
Australia, has a home in France,
speaks four languages and has
lived in Massachusetts, Sweden, and
Mexico.

As we were leaving the ship the next day,
Vitalio was standing there waiting. He shook
my hand and said how he enjoyed
getting to know me and reached
over and kissed me on the cheek.

Well, I was ecstatic!

Did I Hint at a ShipBoard Romance?

Hank was the widower from Long Island, NY
who had those twinkling blue eyes.
He was at our dinner table the first night
and from that point onward, he became a
dinner companion and partial dance
partner every evening.
 He was my first flirtation.

Mick liked to dance almost as much as me. He was a
very tall big man who was always smiling and
dancing. He was a delight to get to know.

Annette was scheduled to be my first room mate but
she got married two weeks before the cruise and was able to get her husband on the ship.

This was my wonderful roommate Sandy who was
just like my younger sister that I never had.
She and I talked every night and giggled
like two teenagers (at our age no less!)

Dennis disappeared for most of the day
as we left Cabo San Lucas.
That was when we became a three-some
and Hank moved right over to Sandy
and stopped dancing with me.
(Of all the nerve!)

We found a smokeless bar with canned
music and Hank took Sandy right
out to the dance floor leaving me
standing by myself.

That was when I saw him, my Adonis
was sitting there at the bar that looked out onto
the dance floor.  He was dressed like a
pro dancer like Tony or Maksim from
Dancing with the Stars
so  I brazenly sat
next to him.
I asked him if he were a pro dancer
and cougar within me roared
because he looked like he was 45.
He said he'd never had time to
learn to dance - always working.
So I asked him if he wanted to learn
to dance because I have danced my
whole life so I dragged him onto
the dance floor.

I'll tell you more in my next post.

I am joining in on 52 weeks of
happy with Ramblings of a Roachling
where we post 4 photos each week
that made us smile.

Souvenirs from Puerta Vallarta

Garnet dragon flys.

The lady said it was handmade lace but I really suspect it is machine-made lace nonetheless, it was beautiful and looks marvelous on my round pie-fluted glass dining table. She kept dropping the price and I kept looking.  I never said one word but when she got to $25, I said I'll take it.

Grateful Friday

I am grateful that my daughter cancelled her trip and I found a last minute flight to Monterey for Christmas which was cheaper than any flight this last year.

I am grateful that I was able to attend my granddaughter's blessing in church while I was visiting.

I am grateful to be home even though it is an icebox in Utah right now with at least a foot of snow on the ground.

The sad part of my week is that my older cat died while I was gone. He was 17 1/2 years old.

Mountain Restaurant

One of the mountain areas that had zip lines but I chose to eat at this amazing outdoor restaurant. After our meal, I had a very nice massage.

It was such a romantic setting.

Giant mango drink (vigin style - no alcohol).
Heather's chicken salad.

After returning to the ship, I had to scamper back to my room and get more cash to pay for the day trip through Puerto Vallarta because I had spent all my cash.

The ship was holding a spa day special and not one person had returned from the zip lining so I decided to pamper myself and do a spa day which included a head massage, a facial, neck and back massage and leg and foot massage.  Only I told her to not touch the bottom of my feet because I am extremely ticklish.

It was absolutely heavenly. I was ready to meet my Adonis.
